29-May-2016 Swing out to Swanston

On a very fine Sunday, 14 Easycyclers set off from Peter’s yard, with 5 new members among their number. We pedaled keenly up to Bruntsfield and then a spin around the Kings Buildings estate, from where we made our way round to Blackford Glen Road.

This being the Eastern entrance to the Hermitage of Braid, we followed the Braid Burn through the woods, through Braidburn Park, and then through the path system as it tracked Westwards and then South. A quick haul up the few steps at Gallolee saw us in Reford Road and into Swanston.

Breesing through the paths and greens of Swanston then took us to the Lunch stop at Stable Bar at Mortonhall.

There was some discussion about the length of the ride, after which we climbed the pleasant Mortonhall paths to the Alnwickhill Road, and then due North to get back to the Meadows.

In all, six of us made it back to Peter’s Yard for coffees and the first ice cream of the year. It was great to welcome so many new faces to the group, and to have a nice sunny ride.
