28 September 2014: out to Riccarton

DSC08394We seem to have had an excellent summer’s cycling weather. Even better, when the weather has been looking bleak, somehow our EasyCycle days have been dry and sunny. I am not sure this will continue quite as successfully through the winter …

A dozen or so of us headed out for our first SUNDAY run (EasyCycle having moved to the last Sunday of the month from September 2014) from the regular start point outside Peter’s Yard on Middle Meadow Walk. Across the Meadows and Links then out on the canal as far as the turn off onto the Water of Leith, we headed through the wooded path out towards Balerno.

DSC08402We were making such good progress that we just continued right out to Balerno and then doubled back on the main road to our lunch stop at the Riccarton Arms.

From there we had a quick run down to the Heriot-Watt campus and back into town through Edinburgh Park, the Gyle and the new cycle path alongside the trams. Quick loop round Murrayfield and Dalry, Leamington and back to the Meadows for refreshments.

Nice weather, good lunch and no hills. Great day of cycling!
