28 June 2014: looping south and north

Billy Connolly once said Scotland has only two seasons – July and Winter. So on June 28th we celebrated the last Saturday of Winter with an EasyCycle.

inverleith parkA record number (24) of intrepid pedallers started off from Peter’s Yard at the Meadows and down Lover’s Loan. Swiftly cutting though Astley Grange and Cluny Avenue / Maxwell Street, we wiggled north via Tipperlinn Road and Napier Road, through Dorset Place, going over the canal at Viewforth, turning left to descend upon the picnic area and the Pub (the Fountain, Fountainbridge) for an (early) lunch at 11:45.

canalAnother record broken – there were as many picnickers as diners (10), despite the overcast skies, seasonal cold and spots of rain.

After lunch, a bracing triple pack of Roseburn Path, Carrington Road to Inverleith Park, and Water of Leith for the return leg. WoL provided the only hill of the day, because the diversion through Dean Village is still in place.
