29th March 2014 : A pleasant tour of the North Edinburgh bike paths

We had a very pleasant run today.  Under Glenn’s capable leadership, ten of us headed out on the Innocent Path to Brunstane, then swooped down to the Portobello Promenade. There were road works at Seafield which prevented us using part of the shared-use path. And more works on Leith Links forced us to ride a short way on the grass. But these were minor inconveniences. We soon reached our lunch spot, the Rock Salt café in Constitution Street.

For the afternoon leg, we joined the North Edinburgh bike network at Sandport Place, from where we made fast progress to Five Ways, the Red Bridge and the Roseburn Path, returning to the Meadows in plenty of time for our customary post-ride coffee stop in Peter’s Yard.

Happily, the early drizzle had quickly cleared, giving us a dry and relatively warm day, with only a moderate breeze. The total distance cycled was 15 miles.
