28 September 2013: south west to Spylaw

Alan Orr was kind enough to lead 11 of us out to Spylaw on – yet another – Indian summer’s day.

Following a bit of our usual route south of the Meadows we then headed up towards the Kings Buildings estate and down to the east end of the Hermitage of Braid path; along the path we stopped briefly at the Council “mansion” (which was, curiously, not open on Open Days Edinburgh …) and then out through Braidburn Park; on to Redford and then a quick downhill to Colinton and a pub lunch at the Spylaw Tavern.

Suitably refreshed we headed back in along the Water of Leith / Canal and returned to Peter’s Yard at MMW before 3.00pm. 12-13 miles in all, and a lovely day’s cycling.

Not many pictures – but we did get one of us on the Viaduct at Slateford.
